baton made of black French-polished wood with ivory tips; the wider grip has a tip encrusted with a cross made of mother of pearl against black circular background and a carved, blackened double ring on the edge of the tip; the body narrows down along approximately 1/3 of its length and finishes with a sharp ivory tip, noticeably brighter than the grip
