Dark, oiled wood baton with golden fittings; partly conical body, widening in the grip section finished with a plain, golden fitting with a flat end; at 2/5 of the length, a plain, golden ring with an engraved inscription; sharp tip made of bone. Hallmarks: on the grip fitting, hallmark 14 K. As per inscription, the baton belonged to conductor Frank Black, who held a cycle of radio auditions titled [Carnation] Contented Hour, broadcast by the NBC in 1937 r.; the baton was a gift from Carnation Company, who sponsored the broadcast
