the baton was presented to Anna R. Bran in 1916 (1918?) , probabl by the music ensemble (a choir?) affiliated with the Waterloo Methodist Church (churches bearing the name operate in a number of English and American towns). The baton is a two-piece composite, screwed together in the middle of its length, supplied with an internal connector; the conic core was made of light-coloured wood with visible “spots” (spotted sycamore?); the silver fittings on the grip, tip, and the connector were imprinted with an ornament with acanthus leaves; on the fitting of the slightly flattened bulb, a frame with an inscription was attached; as per the hallmarks, the baton was stamped in 1916 in London., maker’s mark F.D
