Black baton with silver fittings; conical body made of dark, French-polished wood; long, slightly widening grip fitting, decorated with an engraved twig motif; at 2/5 of the body, a silver ring with an engraved inscription in a shield-shaped frame; tip fitting and ring decorated analogically to the grip. Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1889, silversmith’s mark J.H. One of the most beautiful batons in the collection, the exhibit belonged to James H. Farquahar who, according to the inscription, received it on 1 April 1890 from the children of the Heatherlie Church Band of Hope in Selkirk, Scotland
