Black baton with silver fittings; conical body made of black, French-polished wood; grip fitting decorated with an impressed pattern fashioned after a coiled twig; monogram engraved atop the fitting; at 1/3 of the length, a silver ring widening into an oval frame with an inscription, adorned with an impressed floral twig, similar to that on the tip fitting. This commemorative baton was presented to W.H. Dobson by The Brunswick House Musical Society in1896. Hallmarked in 1896 in London (ring) and Chester (grip), silversmith’s mark E·N (Ebenezer Newman & Co.)
