the wooden core was made of dark, French-polished wood; it is cylindrical, with symmetrical fittings on both ends; the fittings were decorated with palmettes on the sides, flat on the upper tip of the baton and finished with a small, metal, oval “acorn” (which is missing on one side); attached to the mid section of the baton was a metal ring with palmettes, flowers and en engraved frame reserved for an inscription
