black baton with silver fittings; conical body made of black wood (ebony?), grip fitting with a rounded tip, decorated with acanthus leaf engravings; in the middle of the body, a silver ring was fitted with analogical decorations and an engraved, framed inscription; fitting on the tip is plain. Hallmarked for London 1937 with the maker’s initials FD in an oval frame. As per commemorative inscription, the baton belonged to John Foster, the conductor of the Weymouth Choral Society in the years 1934-1938
