Short baton with meticulously executed silver fittings; cylindrical cone made of dark, black-varnished wood; richly decorated fittings with carved edges; one of the tips was fitted with a pear-shaped decoration finished with a ball and engraved with floral patterns; the other tip finishes with a lyre propped against a rosette; the mid-section is decorated with a broad ring with pearl blasting and carved edges, as well as an engraved inscription; maker’s marks point to Germany, silver hallmark 800. The baton resembles another one from the same collection, which comes from the Wiesbaden synagogue (inventory number JSW 150). As per inscription, the baton was presented to an unknown conductor by the women of the “Gemischter Chor” (mixed choir) association in 1912.
